We, at IDFC FIRST Bank, have supported the nation’s fight against COVID-19 through our contribution of ¥5 Crores to the PM CARES Fund.
Amid the ongoing pandemic, IDFC FIRST Bank is creating awareness about the benefits of vaccination among rural masses and clearing myths related to it. An on-ground programme is being conducted in Rajasthan, Karnataka,Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh and Gujarat, to reach out to residents in the hinterland. The program is being rolled out in two parts.
As one of our initial CSR activities during COVID-19, IDFC FIRST Bank aims to provide masks to 1.5 lakh frontline and essential services workers as they battle the COVID-19 pandemic. In partnership with the NGOs - ETASHA Society and Antarang Foundation, the Bank is mobilizing 250 womenentrepreneurs to manufacture masks. These will bedistributed free of cost to health workers, civil service employees and the economically weaker sections across Mumbai and Delhi. The Bank ensures financial support, raw material, logistics and distribution support to the NGOs. Additionally,we are also providing N95 masks to doctors and nurses.
One of our main CSR activities during COVID-19 has been to provide immediate financial aid to 625 workers from across urban and rural India. This is done in partnership with Collective Good Foundation aims and by means of direct cash transfers of Rs. 3000, access to government schemes and health insurance products. This COVID-19 support program aims to ensure that workers such as, truck drivers, sanitation workers, waste-pickers etc. have financial support during and after the lockdown, access to essentials and requisite entitlements from government schemes.
Highlighting another one of our CSR activities during COVID-19, IDFC FIRST Bank is distributing 100,000 meal packets to migrant labourers without work, slum dwellers, and children under the aegis of Share-a-Meal program for the economically weaker sections of society. With the help our NGO partner Akshaya Patra NGO and restaurant partners, we are reaching out to the massive homeless migrant population across India.
IDFC FIRST Bank in partnership with the NGOs - End Poverty and Vrutti, has reached out to 150 of its women customers to stitch reusable cloth masks for people living in rural areas, thereby giving them livelihood opportunity as another one of our CSR activities during COVID 19. We will provide full assistance to these women to make and distribute 2,00,000 masks across Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh.
IDFC FIRST Bank has tied up with cab-renting companies to provide free commute services to frontline medical staff - doctors, nurses, and the support staff who are working relentlessly to serve those impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic, while risking their own lives. Under this COVID 19 support program, the Bank has assigned dedicated cars for Hinduja and Lilavati hospitals in Mumbai, until the end of the lockdown period.
At IDFC FIRST Bank, we are constantly engaged inspreading awareness about maintaining proper hygiene, cleanliness and social distancing. Therefore, another one of our CSR activities during COVID-19 has been to intensify our efforts in rural markets through personal meetings and digital communication to reach over 3 million ruralhouseholds. The program will educate children in schools and elders of the villages about the prevention from the COVID-19 pandemic, and the steps to be taken if they or their family members are diagnosed with symptoms of the COVID-19 infection.
