Programme Manager, Strutti
I joined the Shwetdhara programme as a programme Manager in Sep’19. The programme
focusses on rural women and marginal dairy farmers and covers all aspects of dairy
farming to increase their income and reduce input cost. These rural women
entrepreneurs
known in the village as Gram Sakhi have started
creating their own identity and supporting their families. Gram Sakhis capacitance
with
help of TOTs and they further provide animal husbandry and dairy development
trainings
in their villages. All the services and inputs like Al, PD, Treatment, Input sale,
feed
sale, trainings, community meetings etc. were performed in villages with the help of
Gram Sakhis. The Shwetdhara team and Gram Sakhis enable behaviour change of
households
by means of extensive training on good practices and all other aspects of dairy
farming.
Villagers are now more aware about the breed, nutrition and cattle management than
they
were before. This programme has not only made them aware but also helped them
improve
their income levels. Shwetdhara programme is so precisely designed to enhance dairy
productivity keeping in mind women member at centre-stage. Programme has a potential
to
self-sustainable.
